Who We Are
The Hillsboro Parks and Recreation Adopt-a-Park Program invites community members to play a pivotal role in the beautification and maintenance of our city's parks. This initiative is open to a diverse range of participants, including individuals, neighborhood associations, community groups, school clubs, and local businesses, fostering a collective effort to enhance our green spaces.
As participants in the Adopt-a-Park Program, volunteers collaborate closely with the Volunteer Services Coordinator to establish a shared vision and objectives for their adopted park. This collaboration includes developing a customized work plan and scheduling workdays that cater to the volunteers' interests and commitment levels.

- Initial Meeting: If your application is approved, the Volunteer Services Coordinator will arrange a meet-and-greet session with you at the park you selected. This meeting is an opportunity for us to understand your interests better and discuss the potential for collaboration.
- Developing a Work Plan: Together with our Parks Maintenance Department, we will work closely with you to develop a customized work plan. This plan will reflect your interests and the specific needs of the park, ensuring a rewarding and impactful volunteer experience.
- Scheduling Your First Project: Once the work plan is in place, you'll coordinate with the Volunteer Services Coordinator to schedule your first project. We strive to accommodate your availability and preferences in this planning stage.
- Project Execution: It's time to get hands-on! Engage in your first project and start making a tangible difference in your adopted park.
- Recognition and Appreciation: To acknowledge your valuable contribution, Hillsboro Parks & Recreation will install an Adopt-a-Park recognition sign in your adopted park. This sign serves as a token of our gratitude and a symbol of your commitment to the community.
