Who We Are

Do you have a passion for helping people? Then this team might be for you!

What We Do

Volunteer advocates help community members have access to 24-hour on-scene crisis intervention and ongoing support for situations involving domestic violence, sexual assault, teen dating violence, and stalking.

Volunteer advocates respond on-scene with police officers to provide trauma-informed support. Volunteer advocates commit to working specific shifts per month to provide on-scene crisis intervention and support for victims.

Volunteers provide:

  • Emotional support and encouragement
  • Immediate essential needs and safety services
  • Victim resources
  • Safety planning
  • Education about the criminal and civil justice systems

Volunteer advocates are carefully selected service-oriented community members, that must pass a 40 hour training (provided by HPD). After training there is a monthly time commitment of 24 hours.
