Volunteer with us!
Volunteers are an important part of the Hillsboro Public Library team. Every year, hundreds of volunteers contribute their time and talents while helping the Library fulfill our "For Everyone" mission.
We recruit quarterly (September, January, April, June) for new Library Volunteers based on program needs.
Now recruiting for these open Library opportunities:
- Storytime Helpers – Shute Park Library and limited openings at Brookwood Library
- Greeters – weekend shifts at Brookwood Library
- Summer Reading Program Helpers – Both locations, program begins June 1
- Family Event Helpers & Outreach Helpers – Both locations on site and off site
- Friends of the Library Book Sale Set up
Start the process now:
- Application
- Fill out a general volunteer application
- Schedule an in-person interview
- Background Check
- A background check is required for all regularly scheduled library volunteers
- The Volunteer Engagement Office will initiate the background check after the interview is complete
- Orientation
- Orientations are held 4-6 weeks after recruitment opens each quarter
- Some positions will require additional training to be arranged as per assignment
- Volunteer Engagement will send you a link to sign up for an orientation
- When the orientation is completed, the Volunteer Engagement Office will activate your login and you can sign up for opportunities.
