Library: Friends Fall Book Sale Set Up

Get a work out mentally and physically while enjoying being surrounded by thousands of books!  Set up helpers are critical to the success of the twice yearly book sales sponsored by the Friends raising additional funds for our library!  Set up volunteers must be able to commit to the entire three hour shift period, be able to stand, reach, push, pull, grasp, lift, bend, twist, read and understand the English alphabet, and be able to follow precise instructions on sorting, alphabetizing and then merchandising the books offered for sale.  Volunteers must be prepared to stand for the majority of the shift, be able to concentrate on the task at hand, be accurate and methodical when alphabetizing and then placing books on the shelves in the correct order.  Please note, during the early days of set up the room is often very crowded with books, shelving, and tables so those with limited mobility or in need of support to stand may find it difficult to navigate.  Please contact Volunteer Engagement with questions.  Two shifts are available during set up periods, shifts are three hours long with the expectation volunteers will stay the entire three hour shift.  An online overview of the alphabetizing process is provided prior to your shift with an in person review offered as you start your shift.
